Stewart M. Robinson collection of colonial sermons, 1615-1960 (bulk 1745-1785).

Consists of a collection compiled by Robinson (Princeton Class of 1915), including photostats of sermons, letters, pamphlets, and communications to newspapers by clergymen in colonial America, which he used as research material for a proposed book entitled THE POLITICAL THOUGHT OF THE COLONIAL CLERGY.

The Transylvania Presbytery was organized by appointment of the synods of New York and Philadelphia. The Synod of New York made part of the Presbytery of Abingdon into the Transylvania Presbytery, which encompassed the district of Kentucky and the settlements on the Cumberland River. The Reverend David Rice, Adam Rankin, Andrew McClure, and James Crawford met at the Danville, Kentucky courthouse to organize the presbytery.
